“Your Daily Dose” is a quick two minute read packed with bite-sized wisdom from all the great teachers. But you could also choose to turn it into something more… A powerful daily practice for personal growth. Give it a try!
A message from today’s meditation:
The power of NOW… “Being present” has such a spiritual connotation that its pure practical application is often missed. It’s a shame because “being present” is simply the most effective way to apply your effort. Dealing with what this moment makes available to you right NOW, is the only place where you have any power at all.
“I am a lover of what is, not because I’m a spiritual person, but because it hurts when I argue with reality. We can know that reality is good just as it is, because when we argue with it, we experience tension and frustration. We don’t feel natural or balanced. When we stop opposing reality, action becomes simple, fluid, kind, and fearless.” – Byron Katie
“The Work reveals that what you think shouldn’t have happened, couldn’t have happened in any other way, because it didn’t happen in any other way. And no amount of thinking in the world can change it. This doesn’t mean that you condone it or approve of it. It just means that you can see things without resistance and without the confusion of your inner struggle. No one wants their children to get sick, no one wants to be in a car accident; but when these things happen, how can it be helpful to mentally argue with them? We know better than to do that, yet we do it, because we don’t know how to stop.” – Byron Katie
We struggle to be present because our inner narrative – the way in which we speak to ourselves – was recorded from the events that we’ve lived through in the past. This inner voice from the past is always repeating the same old anxieties and when it looks into the future, it predicts that our worst fears will come true.
In the moments when you’re able to step out of the old recording and step into wisdom, you have no problem dealing with reality just as it is. Your soul is the most present “thing” that you will ever encounter. While your soul has been collecting wisdom across millennia, it is never trying to be anywhere but right here, right now, dealing with reality exactly as it is.
When you learn to listen to the whisper of your soul, all resistance to reality melts away and confusion evaporates. When you stop opposing reality, action becomes simple, fluid, kind, and fearless.
Really being present and surrendering to reality just as it is, brings clarity. While I’m fighting with reality, I’m trying to take action from information that doesn’t exist. But when I accept this moment just as it is, then I become available to see all the data that presents itself. Now I’m taking action from clarity.
A few affirmations to guide you back to presence:
- “I accept this moment exactly as it is, knowing that my power lies in my response to what is present now.”
- “I release my need to argue with reality and trust that clarity emerges when I stop resisting.”
- “I listen to the wisdom of my soul, which is always present and never trying to be anywhere else.”
Ultimately, the power to transform your life lies in how you choose to respond to this very moment. Embracing the power of NOW is not just a philosophical concept; it’s a practical tool for navigating life’s challenges and creating a fulfilling existence. By no longer trying to avoid reality, we reduce stress, improve our relationships, and enhance our overall well-being.

Practice the “Daily Dose”
Let’s put it into practice! Choose what works for you – daily, once a week or whenever inspiration strikes. Putting pen to paper wires the neural pathways that will create your new habits.
1 – Affirmation
Write down your favourite affirmation on a sticky note and place it somewhere that you’ll be able to see it the whole day.
- “I accept this moment exactly as it is, knowing that my power lies in my response to what is present now.”
- “I release my need to argue with reality and trust that clarity emerges when I stop resisting.”
- “I listen to the wisdom of my soul, which is always present and never trying to be anywhere else.”
2 – A moment of reflection
Use today’s question as a journal prompt. If you don’t have the time to sit down and write, just take a moment to reflect on your response.
Examining Your Resistance Patterns: Write about a current situation you find yourself mentally arguing with or resisting. Describe the physical sensations you experience when you think about this situation (tension, frustration, restlessness). Now imagine accepting this situation exactly as it is—not condoning or approving, but simply stopping the mental argument. What shifts in your body and mind when you consider this acceptance? What data or opportunities become visible when you’re not using energy to fight what already exists?
3 – Quotes to share
Send a quote to someone who needs it, or share them all on social media to spread the good vibes!

4 – Q&A for deeper learning
Read through the questions and answers and write down at least one “aha moment” that clicked for you.
1. Q: Does accepting reality mean I’m being passive or giving up on change?
A: Not at all. Accepting reality as it is doesn’t mean you condone harmful situations or stop working toward positive change. It means you stop wasting energy mentally arguing with what has already happened or what currently exists. This acceptance actually creates more clarity and energy for effective action. When you’re not fighting reality, you can see the situation clearly and respond with wisdom rather than reacting from resistance and confusion.
2. Q: How do I know if I’m listening to my soul’s wisdom versus my conditioned mind?
A: Your soul’s wisdom typically feels calm, present, and grounded in reality as it is. It doesn’t create anxiety about the future or rehash past grievances. Your conditioned mind, on the other hand, tends to repeat old patterns of thinking, predict worst-case scenarios, and create tension in your body. Soul wisdom leads to actions that feel fluid, kind, and fearless, while conditioned thinking often leads to reactive, fear-based responses.
3. Q: What if I’m in a genuinely harmful situation that I need to change—should I still accept it?
A: Accepting reality means acknowledging the facts of your current situation without mental resistance, which actually empowers you to take appropriate action. If you’re in a harmful situation, acceptance helps you see clearly what steps you need to take to protect yourself or create change. Fighting the reality of your situation mentally only clouds your judgment and delays effective action. Acceptance and appropriate action go hand in hand.
4. Q: How can I break free from repetitive anxious thoughts that seem to play automatically?
A: Start by recognizing that these thoughts are old recordings from past experiences rather than current reality. When you notice the repetitive pattern, pause and ask yourself: “What am I resisting right now?” and “What story am I telling myself about this situation?” Then consciously choose to focus on what’s actually happening in this moment rather than the story your mind is creating. This takes practice, but over time, you can learn to step out of the old recording and into present-moment awareness.
5. Q: Why does being present make action feel “simple and fluid”?
A: When you’re present, you’re working with actual data from the current moment rather than trying to act based on fears, assumptions, or old patterns. This clarity eliminates the confusion and internal struggle that comes from fighting reality. You can see what’s actually available to you right now and respond appropriately. It’s like the difference between trying to drive while looking in the rearview mirror versus looking at the road ahead—presence gives you clear vision for effective action.
6. Q: How do I make peace with situations that seem completely unfair or wrong?
A: Making peace doesn’t mean agreeing that unfair situations are okay. It means recognizing that what happened, happened, and no amount of mental arguing can change that fact. Byron Katie’s approach suggests that events couldn’t have happened in any other way, simply because of the fact that they happened the way they happened—this isn’t about morality, it’s about reality. Once you stop using energy to fight what already exists, you can channel that energy into constructive responses, whether that’s healing, learning, seeking justice, or preventing similar situations.
7. Q: What’s the difference between being present and being spiritually enlightened?
A: Being present is a practical skill that anyone can develop, regardless of their spiritual beliefs. While presence is often discussed in spiritual contexts, its value lies in its practical application—it simply makes you more effective at dealing with life’s challenges. You don’t need to be enlightened to benefit from presence; you just need to recognize that your power to act, change, and create exists only in the current moment. Spirituality may deepen your understanding of presence, but presence itself is accessible to everyone as a tool for clearer thinking and more effective action.
