The universe buries strange jewels deep within you.

“Your Daily Dose” is a quick two minute read packed with bite-sized wisdom from all the great teachers. But you could also choose to turn it into something more… a powerful daily practice for personal growth. Give it a try!

A message from today’s meditation:

Today’s message from Elizabeth Gilbert is a reminder of the divinity that you are as a spiritual being. Have you discovered what resides within you?

“‘Om Namah Shivaya’, meaning, I honor the divinity that resides within me.” – Elizabeth Gilbert

It’s a powerful statement, a declaration of self-worth and a recognition of the sacredness of our being. But the road to this self-discovery is seldom smooth, it can be a bumpy road to travel.

When we ‘try’ and turn inwards, what we often encounter first is everything that has been hidden. Everything that we’ve been running away from, trying to suppress, attempting to numb – resides just below the surface because it never went away.

Turning inward in an effort towards self-exploration can be a scary process at first that feels anything but divine.

I want you to know that if you dedicate the time to work through and understand the fears hidden just below the surface, they will soften. And as they soften you’ll slowly settle deeper into your BEING, and come to know the divinity that resides within you.

“The universe buries strange jewels deep within us all, and then stands back to see if we can find them.” – Elizabeth Gilbert

“So this, I believe, is the central question upon which all creative living hinges: Do you have the courage to bring forth the treasures that are hidden within you?” – Elizabeth Gilbert

Don’t turn. Don’t run. Stay… Lean in and feel this all the way through or you will run forever. And if you run forever, you’ll never be home.

By choosing to face our fears and delve into the depths of our being, we embark on a transformative journey that has the power to change our lives and the world around us.

As we embark on this inward exploration, let us cultivate a sense of curiosity and wonder. Let us approach ourselves with compassion and kindness, recognizing that we are all works in progress. And let us trust that the universe, in its infinite wisdom, has placed within us everything we need to fulfill our purpose.

Today’s meditation is borne out of the recognition that we have a soul full of wisdom that we can learn how to connect with in a deeper way. Let us listen to the whispers of our soul, and allow the hidden jewels within to shine forth.

Affirmations to uncover authenticity:

  • “I am willing to face my fears with courage and compassion.”
  • “I trust the process of self-discovery, even when it feels uncomfortable.”
  • “I honor the divinity within me and recognize my inherent worth.”
  • “I am becoming the best version of myself.”

By dedicating time for meditation and introspection, we create a sacred space to connect with our inner wisdom. So, let us embrace the journey. Let us honor the divinity within, and let us have the courage to uncover the treasures buried deep within our hearts. And may we remember that the greatest treasures are often hidden in the most unexpected places.

Practice the “Daily Dose”

Let’s put it into practice! Choose what works for you – daily, once a week or whenever inspiration strikes. Putting pen to paper wires the neural pathways that will create your new habits.

1 – Affirmation

Write down your favourite affirmation on a sticky note and place it somewhere that you’ll be able to see it the whole day.

  • “I am willing to face my fears with courage and compassion.”
  • “I trust the process of self-discovery, even when it feels uncomfortable.”
  • “I honor the divinity within me and recognize my inherent worth.”
  • “I am becoming the best version of myself.”

2 – A moment of reflection

Use today’s question as a journal prompt. If you don’t have the time to sit down and write, just take a moment to reflect on your response.

Honoring Your Inner Divinity: The Sanskrit phrase “Om Namah Shivaya” means “I honor the divinity that resides within me.” Write about what honoring your own divinity means to you personally. How do you currently show respect and reverence for your inner wisdom and sacred nature? What practices or mindset shifts might help you connect more deeply with this divine aspect of yourself?

3 – Quotes to share

Send a quote to someone who needs it, or share them all on social media to spread the good vibes!

4 – Q&A for deeper learning

Read through the questions and answers and write down at least one “aha moment” that clicked for you.

1. What does it mean that “the universe buries strange jewels deep within you”?

This metaphor suggests that each person possesses unique gifts, talents, wisdom, and qualities that are not immediately visible on the surface. These “strange jewels” represent the extraordinary aspects of your soul—your authentic self, creative potential, and inner wisdom. They’re called “strange” because they’re uniquely yours and may not fit conventional expectations. The universe has placed these treasures within you, but it’s your responsibility to discover and develop them through self-exploration and inner work.

2. Why is turning inward initially so uncomfortable and scary?

When we begin the journey of self-discovery, we often encounter everything we’ve been avoiding—suppressed emotions, hidden fears, past traumas, and uncomfortable truths about ourselves. This can feel overwhelming because we’re finally facing what we’ve been running from. The discomfort is actually a sign that we’re touching something real and important. It’s the psyche’s way of protecting us from pain, but ultimately, this protection keeps us from accessing our deeper wisdom and authenticity.

3. What does “Om Namah Shivaya” mean and why is it significant?

“Om Namah Shivaya” is a Sanskrit mantra that translates to “I honor the divinity that resides within me.” It’s significant because it represents a fundamental recognition of your own sacred nature and inherent worth. This isn’t about ego or superiority, but about acknowledging that you possess an inner wisdom and divine spark that deserves respect and cultivation. It’s a declaration of self-worth that goes beyond external validation.

4. How do fears “soften” when we work through them?

When we consistently face our fears with courage and compassion instead of avoiding them, they begin to lose their power over us. This “softening” happens because we realize that many of our fears are based on old stories, limiting beliefs, or past experiences that no longer serve us. As we understand them better and feel them fully, they transform from overwhelming obstacles into sources of wisdom and strength. This process allows us to settle more deeply into our authentic being.

5. What does it mean to “never be home” if we keep running from ourselves?

Being “home” in this context means being comfortable with who you truly are—living authentically from your core self rather than from external expectations or fears. When we constantly run from our inner world, we remain disconnected from our true nature and wisdom. We become strangers to ourselves, always seeking fulfillment externally but never finding lasting peace because we haven’t made peace with our inner world. True “home” is the state of self-acceptance and authentic being.

6. How can meditation and introspection help uncover these hidden treasures?

Meditation and introspection create a sacred space for inner exploration by quieting external distractions and allowing us to connect with our deeper wisdom. These practices help us develop the capacity to sit with discomfort, observe our thoughts and emotions without judgment, and access insights that aren’t available when we’re constantly busy or distracted. Regular practice builds the courage and skill needed to navigate our inner landscape and discover the gems hidden within our psyche.
