“Where to take action” and “where to let go” is not always easy to know.

“Your Daily Dose” is a quick two minute read packed with bite-sized wisdom from all the great teachers. But you could also choose to turn it into something more… a powerful daily practice for personal growth. Give it a try!

A message from today’s meditation:

The structure of today’s meditation follows “The Serenity Prayer”. Since I was a child this prayer has always felt really powerful to me, like a roadmap for navigating life’s challenges. Almost like everything I need to know could be accessed through these three simple lines:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change,

The courage to change the things that I can,

And the wisdom to know the difference.

The serenity prayer offers us three valuable insights into how we might be able to find our way in the world:

  1. The energy we spend trying to change things that we cannot change, is always wasted energy.
  2. There are of course things that we DO need to change though, and this requires us to take action. And taking the right action often needs courage.
  3. Knowing what to accept and what to change is not always clear. It is suggested that we need wisdom to know the difference, precisely because “where to take action” and “where to let go” is not always easy to know.

Our teacher this week is Louise Hay, and on these three insights she offers the following:

Letting go

“You are not a helpless victim of your own thoughts, but rather a master of your mind. What do you need to let go of? Take a deep breath, relax, and say to yourself, ‘I am willing to let go. I release. I let go. I release all tension. I release all fear. I release all anger. I release all guilt. I release all sadness. I let go of all old limitations. I let go, and I am at peace. I am at peace with myself. I am at peace with the process of life. I am safe.” – Louise Hay

Taking action

“When we think good thoughts and choose the actions that make us feel good, Life provides us with all the evidence we need that we are loved and cared for.” – Louise Hay

“Think thoughts that make you happy. Do things that make you feel good. Be with people who make you feel good. Eat things that make your body feel good. Go at a pace that makes you feel good.” – Louise Hay

Access to wisdom

“Your security does not lie in your job, or your bank account, or your investments, or your spouse or your parents. Your security is your ability to connect with the cosmic power that creates all things.” – Louise Hay

“I am one with the Power that created me. I am totally open and receptive to the abundant flow of prosperity that the Universe offers. All my needs and desires are met before I even ask. I am Divinely guided and protected, and I make choices that are beneficial for me. I rejoice in other’s successes, knowing there is plenty for us all.” – Louise Hay

So, where to take action and where to let go… do we strive to change our circumstances, or should we learn to accept them?

Wisdom understands that we can’t copy and paste a one size-fits-all kind of answer. There is no universal answer – only the one you’ll find by tuning towards your own inner compass. The wisdom to know the difference is a quiet strength we build by connecting to what is larger than ourselves, as Louise Hay suggests.

We waste our energy fighting what we cannot change, but we also fail to live fully if we don’t act on what we can change. Our job is to cultivate the deep, inner knowing that guides us. As you move forward, consider this: the most powerful change you can make might be within yourself – the choice to connect with your own divine wisdom.

In conclusion, the Serenity Prayer offers a powerful framework for living a balanced and fulfilling life. By cultivating serenity, courage, and wisdom, we can navigate life’s challenges with grace and resilience. Remember, it’s not about perfection but about progress.

A few affirmations to open yourself to guidance:

  • I am willing to let go of what I cannot control.”
  • I have the courage to change what needs to be changed.”
  • I am connected to the wisdom that guides and supports me.”

Join us for today’s meditation journey and a very practical experience of The Serenity Prayer. Perhaps you too can gain some clarity on what to accept and what to change.

I wish you a really good day.

Practice the “Daily Dose”

Let’s put it into practice! Choose what works for you – daily, once a week or whenever inspiration strikes. Putting pen to paper wires the neural pathways that will create your new habits.

1 – Affirmation

Write down your favourite affirmation on a sticky note and place it somewhere that you’ll be able to see it the whole day.

  • I am willing to let go of what I cannot control.”
  • I have the courage to change what needs to be changed.”
  • I am connected to the wisdom that guides and supports me.”

2 – A moment of reflection

Use today’s question as a journal prompt. If you don’t have the time to sit down and write, just take a moment to reflect on your response.

Discovering Your Courage to Act: Think about an area of your life where you know change is needed but you’ve been hesitant to take action. What fears or doubts have been holding you back? Write about what “thinking thoughts that make you happy” and “doing things that make you feel good” would look like in this context. What would courage look like for you in this situation? What small step could you take today that would move you in the direction of positive change?

3 – Quotes to share

Send a quote to someone who needs it, or share them all on social media to spread the good vibes!

4 – Q&A for deeper learning

Read through the questions and answers and write down at least one “aha moment” that clicked for you.

1. How do I know if I’m wasting energy trying to change something I can’t control?

Look for signs of frustration, repetitive worry, or feeling stuck in mental loops about a situation. If you find yourself obsessing over someone else’s behavior, past events, or circumstances completely outside your influence, you’re likely spending energy on unchangeable things. The key indicator is whether your efforts have any real impact on the outcome. If months or years of worry haven’t changed the situation, it’s probably time to practice acceptance and redirect your energy toward what you can actually influence.

2. What if I’m afraid to take action even when I know something needs to change?

Fear is natural when facing change, but Louise Hay reminds us that courage isn’t the absence of fear – it’s action despite fear. Start with Louise Hay’s approach: focus on thoughts and actions that make you feel good. Begin with small steps that feel manageable rather than overwhelming yourself with dramatic changes. Ask yourself: “What would make me feel just a little bit better about this situation?” Then take that small action. Courage builds through practice, not through waiting for fear to disappear.

3. Does accepting things mean I’m being passive or giving up?

Not at all. Acceptance is an active choice that requires strength and wisdom. When you accept what you cannot change, you free up mental and emotional energy to focus on what you can influence. This isn’t passivity – it’s strategic wisdom. For example, accepting that you can’t control someone else’s choices doesn’t mean you can’t set boundaries or make decisions about your own involvement in the situation. Acceptance creates space for more effective action.

4. What does it mean to connect with “the cosmic power that creates all things”?

This connection is deeply personal and can be understood in various ways depending on your beliefs. It might mean connecting with God, the Universe, your higher self, or the interconnected energy of all life. Louise Hay suggests that our true security comes from this connection rather than external circumstances. Practically, this might involve prayer, meditation, time in nature, or any practice that helps you feel part of something greater than yourself. The key is finding what resonates with your own spiritual understanding.

5. How do I practice Louise Hay’s releasing technique effectively?

The releasing practice Louise Hay describes works best when done with genuine intention and feeling, not just as mechanical words. Find a quiet space, take deep breaths, and actually feel yourself letting go as you say each phrase. Visualize the tension, fear, or anger leaving your body with each exhale. Some people find it helpful to imagine these negative emotions as physical objects they’re setting down or releasing into light. The key is to engage both your mind and your emotional body in the process of letting go.

6. What if I struggle with the spiritual or religious aspects of the Serenity Prayer?

The principles of the Serenity Prayer can be applied regardless of your religious or spiritual beliefs. You can adapt the language to fit your worldview – perhaps focusing on “life” or “the universe” instead of “God,” or thinking of wisdom as accumulated human experience rather than divine guidance. The core message remains powerful: some things are worth changing, some are worth accepting, and developing the discernment to know which is which will improve your life. The practical benefits of this framework don’t depend on any particular belief system.
