Where there is nothing, there can only be God.

“Your Daily Dose” is a quick two minute read packed with bite-sized wisdom from all the great teachers. But you could also choose to turn it into something more… a powerful daily practice for personal growth. Give it a try!

A message from today’s meditation:

Have you ever been able to find a profound sense of peace and tranquility amidst the chaos of life? Perhaps it was during a solitary walk in nature, a quiet moment of reflection, or a deep meditation. A moment of pure stillness where the world seems to fade away, leaving you alone with your thoughts or, perhaps, with something even more profound… the space between your thoughts?

This is the essence of silence, a sacred space where the divine can be found.

“In every moment of every day, through a thousand individual manifestations of Itself, is Divinity revealing Itself. Yet we do not see. Or we see, but do not believe. We do not believe the evidence of our own eyes. We do not hear the truth in the sounds of silence.” – Neale Donald Walsch

“In the quiet moments of your day, what do you think and do? When you are with your SELF and no one else, how does life proceed for you? Who are you when you are alone? Self-creation is a Holy Experience. It is sacred. It is you, deciding Who You Are.” – Neale Donald Walsch

“If you believe the noises of the world, rather than the silences of your soul, you will be lost.” – Neale Donald Walsch

“Truth and God are found in the same place: in the silence.” – Neale Donald Walsch

“Nothing has to happen immediately, this minute, or right now. It’s okay to pause for just a moment. Just take a breath. Then go quietly inside. Ask life itself to lead you to your best outcome. There’s nothing you have to do, really, except get out of your own way.” – Neale Donald Walsch

Since childhood I was always intrigued by the concept of God not being a thing or a presence that we need to travel to some designated building to go and find. But that the only place that we could possibly discover the presence of God, would have to be within ourselves, and within each other. And that if it’s true that God is to be found within me, then in the moments between thought – in the stillness between my own human thinking – in those fleeting moments of complete inner silence I must be left with only the presence of God.

And that if we were to come together and all sit in silence together, then in those fleeting moments where perhaps we all slip into that space between our thoughts together, then we must all find ourselves in the exact same space simultaneously… in the presence of God.

Where there is nothing, there can only be God.

So, how can you cultivate this divine silence in your own life? Here are a few thoughts to guide you:

  • Pause and breathe. Take a moment to simply be present. Take a step back from your thoughts and allow them to just flow by.
  • Practice mindfulness. Witness thoughts and sensations without judgement.
  • Spend time in nature. The natural world can be a powerful source of peace and tranquility.
  • Engage in creative pursuits. Activities like painting, writing, or playing music can help you connect with your inner self.
  • Have a meditation practice. Become comfortable with slipping into the void, you will find your connection to everything there.

The journey towards inner peace and spiritual awakening begins with the practice of silence. It doesn’t require elaborate rituals or complex techniques. Simply take a moment to pause, to breathe deeply, and to quiet the mind. Allow yourself to be present in the moment, free from the burdens of the past and the anxieties of the future.

Practice the “Daily Dose”

Let’s put it into practice! Choose what works for you – daily, once a week or whenever inspiration strikes. Putting pen to paper wires the neural pathways that will create your new habits.

1 – Affirmation

Not so much affirmations today but rather, a few suggested practices. Write down your favourite one and spend a moment reflecting on how to best incorporate it into your life.

2 – A moment of reflection

Use today’s question as a journal prompt. If you don’t have the time to sit down and write, just take a moment to reflect on your response.

The Voice of Your Soul vs. The Noise of the World: Consider the quote: “If you believe the noises of the world, rather than the silences of your soul, you will be lost.” What are the “noises of the world” that currently dominate your attention? In contrast, what wisdom or guidance emerges when you create space for silence? Write about a time when following your inner voice led you in a different direction than external expectations.

3 – Quotes to share

Send a quote to someone who needs it, or share them all on social media to spread the good vibes!

4 – Q&A for deeper learning

Read through the questions and answers and write down at least one “aha moment” that clicked for you.

1. What does it mean that “where there is nothing, there can only be God”?

This phrase suggests that in moments of complete mental stillness—when thoughts, worries, and distractions fall away—what remains is pure presence or divine consciousness. It’s not that God fills an empty space, but rather that our essential nature, stripped of mental noise, is itself divine. In Eastern philosophy, this concept is similar to discovering our true nature beneath the layers of conditioned thinking.

2. How can I distinguish between the “silences of my soul” and the “noises of the world”?

The “noises of the world” include external pressures, societal expectations, media influences, and the constant stream of information that shapes our decisions based on fear, competition, or conformity. The “silences of your soul” refer to the deeper wisdom that emerges from quiet reflection—insights that feel authentic, peaceful, and aligned with your true values. Soul wisdom often comes with a sense of knowing rather than anxiety, and it tends to guide you toward growth and connection rather than division or fear.

3. Do I need to be religious to experience this divine silence?

Not at all. This experience of divine silence transcends religious boundaries and can be accessed by anyone regardless of their spiritual beliefs. The “divine” in this context refers to the sacred or transcendent quality of existence itself—the mystery of consciousness, the interconnectedness of all life, or simply the profound peace that emerges in deep stillness. Whether you call it God, universal consciousness, or simply inner peace, the experience remains accessible to all.

4. What if I can’t quiet my mind during meditation?

Having a busy mind is completely normal and doesn’t prevent you from experiencing divine silence. Instead of fighting your thoughts, practice observing them without judgment—let them flow by like clouds in the sky. The silence exists not in the absence of thoughts, but in the space between them and in your awareness that observes them. Over time, this observer consciousness—which remains peaceful regardless of mental activity—becomes more apparent.

5. Can this practice replace traditional therapy or professional help?

While cultivating silence and inner awareness can be profoundly healing and transformative, it’s not intended to replace professional mental health care when needed. Think of this practice as a complement to, not a substitute for, appropriate professional support. If you’re dealing with significant emotional challenges, trauma, or mental health concerns, seeking qualified help while maintaining a practice of inner silence can be most beneficial.

6. How can I maintain this connection to divine silence in my busy daily life?

Integration is key to making this practice sustainable. Start by creating small pockets of silence throughout your day—a few conscious breaths before meetings, mindful moments while drinking coffee, or brief pauses between activities. Practice viewing routine tasks as opportunities for mindfulness rather than distractions. Remember that the goal isn’t to escape life but to bring this quality of presence into all your activities, recognizing that the sacred isn’t separate from the ordinary but found within it.
