When every action you take is the expression of your soul.

Here’s a little inspiring nugget that’ll take you about 2 minutes to chew on. Now, if you’re hungry for the whole story and want to become a true connoisseur of this topic, our menu has all the delicious details you can handle!

A message from today’s meditation:

Can you be fully committed to taking action and also… be ready to accept and let go of anything that is not yours to control?

Life is a dance between action and acceptance, and both of these seemingly opposing forces are essential for us to apply ourselves effectively.

Today’s meditation takes a look at this constant ebb and flow.

“Sit and listen to your inner guidance, and allow your inner wisdom to surface.” – Lisa Michaels

“Let go of your attachment to what you think should have happened. Surrender to what is and trust that you are being guided towards something more profound.” – Ash Alves

“The moment of surrender is not when life is over. It’s when it begins.” – Marianne Williamson

Today’s meditation is based on the serenity prayer, and to me the most profound part of the serenity prayer is the last sentence – asking for “the wisdom to know the difference.”

I often think that this is exactly what navigating life comes down to… understanding what to let go of, and what to take action on. And the truth is, this is not always easy to know… but here’s what is guaranteed to make this knowing impossible – a mind running crazy trying to find solutions, but really not doing much more than muddying the water – making clarity impossible.

So how do we find “the wisdom to know the difference?” How do we discern when to act with purpose, and when to surrender with grace?

Lisa Michaels says, “..your inner guidance… your inner wisdom…”

Ash Alves says, “… trust that you are being guided…”

And Marianne Williamson says, “… surrender…”

You have this guidance within you, we all do! Call it God, source, the universe, wisdom, it flows through you as it flows through each of us, and your soul is how you connect to what is bigger than you. Walk in the opposite direction of your busy thoughts. Go within. Drop-in to your deeper essence and listen.

Imagine living a life where every move you make is an extension of your deepest being, a reflection of your soul’s desires. Just imagine how you will create, and what you will create, when every action you take is the expression of your soul.

Here are a few thoughts to help align with the wisdom of your soul:

  • The silence beneath the noise. Step away from the constant mental chatter. Meditation is a powerful tool, but even a few moments of quiet reflection can make a world of difference.
  • Go within. Connect with your deeper essence. Ask yourself questions, listen for the intuitive nudges, the quiet knowing that arises from within.
  • Follow your breath. The rhythm of your breath is a natural anchor, quieting the mind and opening a space for inner guidance to emerge.

Join us for today’s meditation and take the opportunity to connect to your soul and listen.

Start with silence. Always. Where there is nothing… there can only be God.

Today’s LIVE meditation is: The Serenity Prayer.

A moment of reflection

(If you have the time, use this question as a journal prompt, because whenever you put pen to paper you’re wiring the neural pathways that create your new habits. But if you don’t have the time, just take a moment to reflect on your response.)

The article discusses the “dance between action and acceptance.” Reflect on a recent situation in your life where you felt this tension. How did you navigate it? In hindsight, do you feel you leaned too heavily on action or perhaps on acceptance? What did you learn about your own tendency in this dance?

Q&A for deeper learning

Q 1. What is the central idea of this meditation message? The central idea is the importance of balancing purposeful action with mindful acceptance, guided by our inner wisdom or soul, to navigate life effectively. It emphasizes discerning what we can control and act upon, and what we need to surrender to.

Q 2. How does the article suggest we can find our “inner guidance”? The article suggests several ways: by stepping away from mental chatter through silence and reflection (like meditation), by going within and connecting with our deeper essence, by asking ourselves questions and listening for intuitive nudges, and by following our breath as an anchor to quiet the mind.

Q 3. What is the significance of the Serenity Prayer in this context? The Serenity Prayer is significant because its core message aligns with the article’s theme: knowing the difference between what we can change (requiring action) and what we cannot (requiring acceptance). The article specifically highlights the wisdom needed to make this distinction.

Q 4. What does it mean for every action to be “the expression of your soul”? It implies living in alignment with your deepest values, desires, and authentic self. It suggests that your actions would stem from a place of inner truth and purpose, rather than external pressures or fleeting thoughts.

Q 5. The article mentions a “dance between action and acceptance.” Can you give an example of this in daily life? A good example could be applying for a job. You take action by preparing your resume, applying, and interviewing. However, the final hiring decision is often out of your direct control, requiring acceptance of the outcome, regardless of how much effort you put in.

Q 6. What hinders our ability to discern when to act and when to surrender, according to the article? A busy, overactive mind that is constantly trying to find solutions and is filled with mental chatter makes clarity impossible. This “muddying of the water” prevents us from accessing our inner wisdom.

Q 7. Why is silence emphasized at the end of the article? Silence is emphasized as a starting point because it creates a space where our inner guidance and connection to something larger can emerge. The phrase “Where there is nothing… there can only be God” suggests that in the absence of mental noise, we can connect with a deeper source of wisdom.
