What will YOUR song be?

“Your Daily Dose” is a quick two minute read packed with bite-sized wisdom from all the great teachers. But you could also choose to turn it into something more… a powerful daily practice for personal growth. Give it a try!

A message from today’s meditation:

We are given this choice every day –

Will I complain about what’s not going my way? Or will I become conscious of, and find gratitude for, the many things that really are going my way?

Whatever holds my attention, I will be shown more of.

“Gratitude places you in the energy field of plentitude. Perceiving life in a consciousness of gratitude is literally stepping into another dimension of living. Suddenly the seeming ordinariness of your days, take on a divine sparkle.” – Michael Beckwith

“You cannot bring anything new into your life until you are grateful for what you have now.” – Michael Beckwith

“Authentic gratitude is a way of life. When you wake up in the morning let your first thought be one of thanksgiving that you have another day to walk in the love of God. As you go through your day, see the Giver behind all of the gifts freely being given to you.” – Michael Beckwith

“Complaining, is a prayer to the devil.” – Michael Beckwith

It’s worth taking a pause on the many things that really ARE going your way, even when it feels like nothing does. If you get into your car to drive home, and you actually arrive home in one piece – that’s a big deal!

It may feel small like a small thing. You might be totally taking that small thing for granted, but if you notice every small win and hold it in gratitude you will literally be living in a new reality.

“The enlightened give thanks, for what most people take for granted.” – Michael Beckwith

You can train your brain to recognize possibilities over problems. If you don’t… you’ll be like 90% of the scared humans out there – seeing only problems and no possibilities.

“The universe corresponds to the nature of your song.” – Michael Beckwith

So what will your song be? One of complaining or of gratitude?

Today’s meditation is a reminder that every day I am given a choice – I can live in the dimension of unhappiness, complaining about what’s not going my way. Or I can live in the dimension of gratitude for all of the blessings that I really do have.

Here are a few guiding mantras for self-reflection:

  • Start your day with gratitude. As soon as you wake up, take a few moments to appreciate the blessings in your life.
  • Notice the small things. Pay attention to the little moments of joy and fulfillment throughout your day.
  • Express gratitude. Share your appreciation with others, both verbally and through actions.
  • Let go of complaining. Redirect your focus to the positive steps that you can take.
  • Choose gratitude. Make a conscious decision to focus on the positive aspects of your life.

By embracing gratitude, we can transform our lives and create a more harmonious and fulfilling reality. Let’s choose to sing a song of gratitude, and let the music of life fill our hearts with joy.

Practice the “Daily Dose”

Let’s put it into practice! Choose what works for you – daily, once a week or whenever inspiration strikes. Putting pen to paper wires the neural pathways that will create your new habits.

1 – Affirmation

In stead of affirmations today, a few thoughts on embodying a life of gratitude. Write down your favourite one and place it somewhere that you’ll be able to see it the whole day.

2 – A moment of reflection

Use today’s question as a journal prompt. If you don’t have the time to sit down and write, just take a moment to reflect on your response.

Composing Your Life’s Song: “Whatever holds your attention, you will be shown more of… The universe corresponds to the nature of your song.” If your thoughts, words, and emotions over the past month were turned into a song, what would it sound like? Would it be a ballad of complaints, a rhythm of resistance, or a melody of gratitude and possibility? Write the “lyrics” of your current life song, then compose a new verse representing the song you want to sing moving forward. What daily practices would help you sustain this new melody?

3 – Quotes to share

Send a quote to someone who needs it, or share them all on social media to spread the good vibes!

4 – Q&A for deeper learning

Read through the questions and answers and write down at least one “aha moment” that clicked for you.

Q1: What does it mean that “whatever holds my attention, I will be shown more of”?

A: This principle reflects how our focused attention acts like a filter for our experiences. When you consistently focus on problems, your brain becomes hyperaware of difficulties and challenges, making them seem more prominent in your life. Conversely, when you focus on gratitude and possibilities, you begin to notice opportunities and blessings you previously overlooked. It’s not that reality changes, but your perception of reality shifts, which then influences your choices and responses, ultimately shaping your actual experiences.

Q2: How can gratitude literally place me in “another dimension of living”?

A: Gratitude fundamentally alters your state of consciousness and energy. When you operate from genuine appreciation, you shift from a mindset of lack to one of abundance. This changes your emotional baseline, your decision-making, your relationships, and even your physical well-being. You begin to perceive ordinary moments as extraordinary, problems as opportunities, and challenges as growth experiences. It’s like switching from black-and-white to color vision—the world becomes richer and more vibrant.

Q3: How is complaining literally “a prayer to the devil”?

A: This isn’t about religious doctrine but about the creative power of our words and focus. When you complain, you’re essentially placing an order for more of what you don’t want. You’re programming your subconscious mind to seek out and create evidence that supports your complaints. Complaining keeps you vibrationally aligned with problems rather than solutions, effectively “praying” for more difficulties to manifest in your life. Your complaints become self-fulfilling prophecies.

Q4: What’s the practical difference between “enlightened” and ordinary people in terms of gratitude?

A: According to Michael Beckwith’s definition of enlightenment, enlightened individuals have trained themselves to see the extraordinary in the ordinary. While most people need obvious, significant events to feel grateful, enlightened people find profound appreciation in basic experiences—breathing, walking, having shelter, being alive. They don’t wait for external validation to feel thankful; they understand that gratitude is an internal choice that can be made regardless of circumstances. They’ve developed “gratitude eyes” that see gifts everywhere.

Q5: How do I train my brain to see possibilities over problems?

A: Start with a daily gratitude practice, but go deeper than surface-level appreciation. When faced with a challenge, ask yourself: “What opportunity might be hidden in this situation?” “What could I learn?” “How might this redirect me toward something better?” Begin each day by identifying three small wins from the previous day and three possibilities for the day ahead. Over time, this rewires your neural pathways to automatically scan for potential rather than problems.

Q6: What does it practically mean that “the universe corresponds to the nature of your song”?

A: Your dominant thoughts, emotions, and words create an energetic signature that attracts matching experiences. If your internal “song” is one of gratitude, abundance, and possibility, you’ll tend to notice and attract opportunities, positive people, and favorable circumstances. If your song is one of complaint, lack, and limitation, you’ll magnetize problems and obstacles. This isn’t mystical thinking—it’s about how your internal state influences your perception, decisions, actions, and ultimately, your results. Change your song, change your life.
