Create the grand vision but most of all… just do your best!

“Your Daily Dose” is a quick two minute read packed with bite-sized wisdom from all the great teachers. But you could also choose to turn it into something more… a powerful daily practice for personal growth. Give it a try!

A message from today’s meditation:

We are at the start of a new week, and for this week we’ll take inspiration for our meditations from Oprah. The theme of her message for us today is – Dare to dream!

Have the courage to create the vision of your most beautiful life. Believe in your greatness because after all, you were created by a power greater than yourself! That means that this greatness lives within you, and it will guide you if you slow down enough to ask, and listen.

“Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life, because you do become what you believe.” – Oprah Winfrey

“The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude.” – Oprah Winfrey

“You become what you believe. And to believe that you are created by a power that’s greater than yourself means anything is possible.” – Oprah Winfrey

So don’t be afraid to dream! Create the vision so that you have a road map, something that gives direction to the next step you take but then remember that you can’t walk on the map you’ve drawn. Equally important to your vision of the future is to have your feet firmly on the ground right where you are in this moment, just doing your best with what’s right in front of you. And to that end, Oprah’s message continues:

“Doing your best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.” – Oprah Winfrey

I know you’re doing your best and trying your hardest, and I’m here to tell you that it’s enough. The truth however is that even when we do our best, it’s no guarantee that things will turn out the way we want them to. We can give our full 100% and still not realize the goals we set and what then…?

When we’ve done the best we can and our plans still don’t work out, then we have a simple choice: we can stop doing our best, or we can get up tomorrow morning and do our best again!

In this I always feel guided by a piece of wisdom I heard a long time ago, “The true master always has clear intent, and also accepts whatever happens as the perfect outcome.”

Can I do my best today, and when I go to bed tonight accept that however the day turned out is good? Can I create and surrender… create and surrender, like taking a deep breath in… and then also letting it go… create and let go… create and let go…

The best writing on “doing your best” I have ever come across is by Don Miguel Ruiz in the book “The Four Agreements” and here’s just a little taste for you:

“Always do your best, but know that your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.” – Don Miguel Ruiz

This is how you consistently do your best: Don’t compare your best today to yesterday or tomorrow. Let your best today just be your best today. Create and let go. Rise tomorrow morning to create at your highest potential again, and put your head on the pillow at night knowing, “today I did my best!”

Step into the week with these thoughts to guide you:

  • “I honour my vision while remaining present to this moment.”
  • “My best today is exactly what this moment requires.”
  • “I trust that doing my best is enough, regardless of the outcome.”
  • “I am created by greatness, and therefore greatness lives within me.”

So, let’s dare to dream big, but let’s also remember to ground ourselves in the present moment. Let’s create ambitious goals, but let’s also be willing to adapt and adjust as needed. And most importantly, let’s commit to doing our best, every single day.

Lot’s of love to you! Hope you have a beautiful Monday.

Practice the “Daily Dose”

Let’s put it into practice! Choose what works for you – daily, once a week or whenever inspiration strikes. Putting pen to paper wires the neural pathways that will create your new habits.

1 – Affirmation

Write down your favourite affirmation on a sticky note and place it somewhere that you’ll be able to see it the whole day.

  • “I honour my vision while remaining present to this moment.”
  • “My best today is exactly what this moment requires.”
  • “I trust that doing my best is enough, regardless of the outcome.”
  • “I am created by greatness, and therefore greatness lives within me.”

2 – A moment of reflection

Use today’s question as a journal prompt. If you don’t have the time to sit down and write, just take a moment to reflect on your response.

Vision and Belief Exploration: What is the highest, grandest vision I hold for my life right now? What does “living a beautiful life” look like to me? What beliefs about myself would need to shift for me to fully embrace this vision as possible? Write about any gap between what you dream of becoming and what you currently believe you’re capable of.

3 – Quotes to share

Send a quote to someone who needs it, or share them all on social media to spread the good vibes!

4 – Q&A for deeper learning

Read through the questions and answers and write down at least one “aha moment” that clicked for you.

Q1: How do I create a grand vision without becoming disappointed if it doesn’t materialize?

A: The key is holding your vision as a direction rather than a fixed destination. Your vision guides your next steps and fuels your motivation, but attachment to specific outcomes creates suffering. Practice the rhythm of “create and surrender”—invest fully in your efforts while releasing your grip on exactly how things must unfold. Remember that even when plans don’t materialize as expected, you’re still growing, learning, and being shaped by the journey itself.

Q2: What if my “best” today feels inadequate compared to what I’ve accomplished before?

A: This is where Don Miguel Ruiz’s wisdom becomes essential. Your best is contextual and changes from moment to moment based on your energy, health, circumstances, and emotional state. Comparing today’s best to yesterday’s is a form of self-judgment that undermines your present efforts. Instead, ask yourself: “Given where I am right now, am I doing my best?” If the answer is yes, that’s enough. Your best today honors this moment, not some memory of past performance.

Q3: How can I tell the difference between “accepting whatever happens as perfect” and simply giving up or settling?

A: Acceptance isn’t passivity—it’s wisdom. When you do your best with clear intent and then accept the outcome, you’re not settling; you’re practicing non-attachment to results while remaining fully engaged with effort. Giving up means withdrawing your energy and effort. Acceptance means continuing to show up, do your best, and trust the process even when outcomes aren’t what you expected. The master creates with full commitment AND accepts with full grace.

Q4: What does it mean that “you become what you believe” when I have limiting beliefs I can’t seem to shake?

A: Beliefs operate like seeds planted in your subconscious—they grow into the reality you experience. When Oprah says you become what you believe, she’s pointing to the creative power of conviction. The good news is that beliefs can change, though it requires patience. Start by becoming aware of your limiting beliefs, then gently question them. Replace them with more empowering possibilities, even if you don’t fully believe them yet. Act as if these new beliefs are true, and over time, your experience will begin to shift.

Q5: How do I stay grounded in the present moment while also working toward future goals?

A: Think of it as holding two truths simultaneously. Your vision exists in the future and guides your direction, but your power exists only in the present moment. You can’t walk on the map—you can only take the next step in front of you. Ground yourself by asking: “What is mine to do right now?” Your future is created through present-moment actions, so by fully engaging with what’s here now, you’re actually building your vision. The key is intention meeting attention (future-vision meeting present-focus).

Q6: What should I do when I realize I didn’t do my best—when I know I could have tried harder?

A: First, practice self-compassion rather than self-judgment. Beating yourself up doesn’t change what happened, but it does make it harder to do better tomorrow. Ask yourself honestly: what got in the way of my best effort? Was it fear, distraction, lack of clarity, or exhaustion? Understanding the obstacle helps you address it. Then forgive yourself, extract any lessons, and recommit. Tomorrow is a new opportunity to do your best again. Growth isn’t about perfection; it’s about returning to your commitment again and again.

Q7: How do I maintain hope and keep doing my best when repeated efforts haven’t produced the results I want?

A: This is where Oprah’s wisdom that “doing your best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment” becomes crucial. You may not see immediate results, but consistent effort is never wasted—it’s preparing you, teaching you, and positioning you for opportunities you can’t yet see. Sometimes the greatest growth happens in the gap between effort and outcome. Continue doing your best not because it guarantees specific results, but because it keeps you aligned with your integrity and your vision. Trust the process even when it’s unclear. Your efforts are seeds that will bloom in their own time.
