What are you running towards?

“Your Daily Dose” is a quick two minute read packed with bite-sized wisdom from all the great teachers. But you could also choose to turn it into something more… a powerful daily practice for personal growth. Give it a try!

A message from today’s meditation:

Every Monday morning’s meditation guides us to look at the week ahead and establish some clarity around what it is we want to create in the coming week. Today we ask the question,“what is it that motivates your creating – FEAR or FREEDOM?”

When you create from FEAR, you’re creating in order to avoid consequences. Creating because, “if I don’t create I’ll be facing some kind of punishment.” Creating from FEAR means you’re trying to create while running away from something.

Creating from FREEDOM comes from deciding what you are running toward! When you create from FREEDOM is it because you embody your birthright… you were created to create! And when you’re able to put down all the fear, you’ll be creating at your highest potential by default!

Our teacher for this week is Lao Tzu. Roughly 2,500 years ago he wrote the Tao Te Ching, a collection of 81 verses which translates as, “The way of how to live a life of virtue.”

In the Tao, Lao Tzu gives clear direction on how to navigate our relationship with fear and freedom by reminding us that fear infects even our purest aspirations. And that in the freedom we discover in the generous present moment, all potentials become available.

“There is no illusion greater than fear.” – Lao Tzu

“Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream.” – Lao Tzu

“Your own positive future begins in this present moment. All you have is now. Every goal is possible from where your feet are right now.” – Lao Tzu

What fuels the actions you take? Are you driven by fear or freedom?

Are you running to stay ahead of potential punishment, or are you chasing after your dreams? Are you wielding your craft as a shield or as a sword?

When you create in fear, the best you can ever do is just stay ahead of what scares you, and you’ll never escape the anxiety that propels you even when you reach those goals. Let go of the limitations imposed by fear. Imagine creating from the pure joy of it, fueled by freedom, possibility, opportunity and limitless abundance. This, my friends, is Fearless Creation.

Here are your mantras for the week:

  • I am a Fearless Creator, limitless and free.”
  • “I water my dreams with joy and possibility.”
  • My fear will not define me, my freedom will fuel me.”
  • “I run towards my dreams, not away from fear.”

Share this message with fellow creators. Let’s build a community that thrives on freedom, not fear. Let’s paint the world with our fearless creations, one masterpiece at a time. Remember, it all starts with you. What are you running towards?

Practice the “Daily Dose”

Let’s put it into practice! Choose what works for you – daily, once a week or whenever inspiration strikes. Putting pen to paper wires the neural pathways that will create your new habits.

1 – Affirmation

Write down your favourite affirmation on a sticky note and place it somewhere that you’ll be able to see it the whole day.

  • I am a Fearless Creator, limitless and free.”
  • “I water my dreams with joy and possibility.”
  • My fear will not define me, my freedom will fuel me.”
  • “I run towards my dreams, not away from fear.”

2 – A moment of reflection

Use today’s question as a journal prompt. If you don’t have the time to sit down and write, just take a moment to reflect on your response.

Identifying Your Driving Force: Reflect on your current projects and goals. For each one, honestly ask yourself: “Am I doing this because I’m excited about where it will take me, or because I’m afraid of what will happen if I don’t?” Write about what you discover and how it feels to acknowledge your true motivations.

3 – Quotes to share

Send a quote to someone who needs it, or share them all on social media to spread the good vibes!

4 – Q&A for deeper learning

Read through the questions and answers and write down at least one “aha moment” that clicked for you.

Q1: What exactly is the difference between creating from fear versus creating from freedom?

Creating from fear means your actions are motivated by avoiding negative consequences—you’re running away from failure, judgment, or loss. Creating from freedom means your actions are motivated by moving toward something you desire—you’re running toward growth, fulfillment, and possibility. The key difference is whether you’re being pushed by anxiety or pulled by inspiration.

Q2: Isn’t some fear healthy and motivating? Don’t we need deadlines and consequences to get things done?

There’s a distinction between healthy urgency and fear-based creation. Urgency can create focus without anxiety. The issue isn’t external deadlines or accountability—it’s the internal narrative. You can meet a deadline because you’re excited about sharing your work (freedom) or because you’re terrified of disappointing people (fear). Same action, completely different energy and long-term sustainability.

Q3: How do I know if I’m creating from fear?

Ask yourself these questions: Do I feel chronically anxious even when things are going well? Am I creating to prove something or protect myself? Does success bring relief rather than joy? If I achieved my goals, would I feel free or would I immediately find something new to worry about? Fear-based creation often feels heavy, urgent, and never quite “enough.”

Q4: Can I really just “let go” of fear? That seems oversimplified.

Letting go of fear isn’t about pretending it doesn’t exist or forcing yourself to feel differently. It’s about recognizing that fear is present without letting it be the decision-maker. You acknowledge the fear, thank it for trying to protect you, and then make choices based on what you’re moving toward rather than what you’re running from. It’s a practice, not a one-time event.

Q5: What does it mean that “creativity is my birthright”?

It means that the ability and desire to create isn’t something you have to earn or prove you deserve. You were born with imagination, curiosity, and the capacity to bring new things into the world. This is fundamental to being human. When you create from this understanding, you’re not trying to justify your existence—you’re simply expressing what’s already within you.

Q6: What if my circumstances genuinely require me to create from a place of survival or urgency?

Real survival situations are different from fear-based creation. If you’re creating to meet basic needs, that’s valid and necessary. However, even in difficult circumstances, you can notice whether your internal dialogue is focused solely on what you’re escaping or whether you can also hold a vision of what you’re building toward. Over time, as stability increases, you can gradually shift more of your energy from fear to freedom.

Q7: How do I start creating from freedom if I’ve been operating from fear for years?

Start small with awareness. Notice when fear is driving your decisions. Ask yourself, “What would I do if I were creating from freedom right now?” You don’t have to completely transform overnight. Each time you make one small choice based on possibility rather than anxiety, you strengthen your capacity for fearless creation. Practice the affirmations, use the journal prompts, and be patient with yourself as you build new patterns.
