Today I decide that I am going to live out loud!

“Your Daily Dose” is a quick two minute read packed with bite-sized wisdom from all the great teachers. But you could also choose to turn it into something more… a powerful daily practice for personal growth. Give it a try!

A message from today’s meditation:

Life presents us with a constant balancing act between acceptance and action, between surrendering to what we cannot control and courageously changing what we can. The age-old wisdom of the Serenity Prayer offers profound guidance for navigating this delicate dance, and spiritual teacher Iyanla Vanzant’s insights illuminate how we can apply this wisdom to break free from the shadows and truly live out loud.

The first line of the Serenity Prayer asks:

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change.”

on surrender and acceptance Iyanla says,

“It takes a lot more courage to let something go than it does to hang on to it, trying to make it better. Letting go doesn’t mean ignoring a situation. Letting go means accepting what is, exactly as it is, without fear, resistance, or a struggle for control.” – Iyanla Vanzant

The second line of the Serenity Prayer requests:

“Please give me the courage to change the things that I can change.”

and Vanzant’s thoughts on taking action are,

“Stop hiding! Stop holding yourself back and playing yourself down! Stop worrying about how you look and what people are saying. Stop listening to what people are saying and trying to find out if they are whispering about you. Stop waiting for someone to tell you that you are okay or to make you feel special. Life is special! It is a special gift. This is your life! Now take your gift and live it out in the open! Decide today that you are going to live out loud!” – Iyanla Vanzant

Then the third line of the Serenity Prayer recognizes that it’s not always so clear when to do and when to don’t:

“Please give me the wisdom to know the difference between what to accept and what to change.”

and on where to find this guidance, Iyanla Vanzant shares the following beautiful wisdom,

“Be patient with yourself. Be gentle with yourself. Know that all things are working in your favour. If you take one step toward the light of Spirit, Spirit will take five steps on your behalf.” – Iyanla Vanzant

Knowing where to take action and what to let go of is certainly not always so clear. But you can trust that your soul knows, thrust that there is guidance if you will listen for it.

Claim this as your affirmation:

———

“I let go with EASE of what I cannot control.”

I pour my energy into only what IS mine to change.

This is MY life, I will live my gifts out in the open!

Today I decide that I am going to LIVE out loud!”

———

Living out loud is not about being obnoxious. It’s about being authentic, courageous, and true to your heart. It’s about sharing your gifts, your passions, and your unique perspective with the world. So step out of the shadows, embrace your inner voice, and let your light shine brightly.

Practice the “Daily Dose”

Let’s put it into practice! Choose what works for you – daily, once a week or whenever inspiration strikes. Putting pen to paper wires the neural pathways that will create your new habits.

1 – Affirmation

Write down your favourite affirmation on a sticky note and place it somewhere that you’ll be able to see it the whole day.

  • “I let go with EASE of what I cannot control.”
  • “I pour my energy into only what IS mine to change.”
  • “This is MY life, I will live my gifts out in the open!”
  • “Today I decide that I am going to LIVE out loud!”

2 – A moment of reflection

Use today’s question as a journal prompt. If you don’t have the time to sit down and write, just take a moment to reflect on your response.

Living Out Loud Manifesto: If you truly decided to “live out loud” starting today, what would that look like in your daily life? What would you say, do, or pursue that you’ve been postponing? Write your personal manifesto for authentic living—what does your soul want to express in this world?

3 – Quotes to share

Send a quote to someone who needs it, or share them all on social media to spread the good vibes!

4 – Q&A for deeper learning

Read through the questions and answers and write down at least one “aha moment” that clicked for you.

Q1: What does “living out loud” actually mean? Isn’t that just being attention-seeking?

A: Living out loud is fundamentally different from attention-seeking behavior. It’s about authenticity rather than performance. When you live out loud, you’re expressing your genuine self, sharing your gifts, and speaking your truth—not to get attention, but because it aligns with who you really are. It’s the difference between showing off and showing up authentically.

Q2: How do I know when I should accept something versus when I should try to change it?

A: Ask yourself: “Does this situation fall within my sphere of direct influence?” You can change your own thoughts, behaviors, boundaries, and choices. You can influence situations where you have agency and responsibility. But you cannot change other people’s feelings, choices, or actions, nor can you change circumstances entirely beyond your control like past events or other people’s opinions. If it’s not in your sphere of influence, it’s yours to accept.

Q3: I’m afraid of being judged if I express myself more authentically. How do I overcome this fear?

A: The fear of judgment is natural, but remember that people’s opinions of you are actually about them, not you. Start small—share one authentic thought, pursue one interest that lights you up, or set one boundary that honors your needs. As you practice, you’ll build confidence and realize that living authentically attracts the right people while naturally filtering out those who aren’t meant to be in your life.

Q4: What if I try to “let go” but keep finding myself trying to control the situation again?

A: This is completely normal! Letting go is rarely a one-time event—it’s often an ongoing practice. Be gentle with yourself when you notice the control patterns returning. Simply acknowledge them without self-judgment and consciously choose to release again. Each time you practice letting go, you’re building that spiritual muscle.

Q5: How can I be patient with myself when I feel like I should be making faster progress?

A: Remember Vanzant’s wisdom that “if you take one step toward the light of Spirit, Spirit will take five steps on your behalf.” Progress isn’t always linear or visible. Trust that every small step matters and that growth often happens in ways we can’t immediately see. Comparison to others or to your own expectations usually stems from ego rather than authentic growth.

Q6: What if living authentically means making changes that might disappoint others?

A: Living authentically sometimes means disappointing people who are attached to who they need you to be rather than who you actually are. This doesn’t mean being reckless or unkind, but it does mean prioritizing your authentic path over others’ expectations. True relationships can withstand authentic growth, while relationships based on you playing small weren’t truly serving anyone.

Q7: How do I find my “inner guidance” when I feel confused about what I really want?

A: Inner guidance often speaks in whispers, not shouts. Create regular quiet time through meditation, journaling, or simply sitting in silence. Notice what energizes you versus what drains you. Pay attention to what you’re drawn to when you’re not worried about others’ opinions. Your body often knows before your mind does—notice what makes you feel expansive versus contracted.
