Don Miguel Ruiz is one of the most transformative spiritual teachers of our time, whose work has guided millions on a powerful journey toward personal freedom and happiness. Born in Mexico into a family of curanderos (healers) and schooled in ancient Toltec wisdom, Ruiz initially trained as a surgeon. However, a near-fatal car accident became a pivotal moment, prompting him to dedicate his life to mastering and sharing the profound teachings of his ancestors. This powerful lineage, drawn from the indigenous knowledge of southern Mexico, provides a clear, practical roadmap for dismantling the self-limiting beliefs and societal “agreements” that restrict our joy.
Ruiz’s most famous work, “The Four Agreements,” is a masterpiece of simplified spiritual philosophy. It distills complex Toltec concepts into four easily actionable principles: Be Impeccable with Your Word, Don’t Take Anything Personally, Don’t Make Assumptions, and Always Do Your Best. This framework offers a radical, yet compassionate, path to identifying and breaking the destructive contracts we’ve made with ourselves and others—agreements that form what he calls the Dream of the Planet or the Domestication. His teachings emphasize that true happiness is found not through control or conformity, but through the unconditional love and acceptance of our own authentic self, free from the judgment and emotional poison of the world.
This ancient wisdom, presented by Don Miguel Ruiz in a clear, modern voice, has resonated globally because it is fundamentally about reclaiming our inner power. By committing to these four agreements, we begin the process of emotional healing, transcending fear, and living a life directed by our own will, not by external expectations. It is a daily practice of meditation, intention, and self-awareness that truly liberates the spirit, proving that the most profound wisdom is often the most accessible.

“Always do your best, but know that your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.” – Don Miguel Ruiz

“Every human is an artist. The dream of your life is to make beautiful art. Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret. Everything is alive and changing all the time, so your best will sometimes be high quality, and other times it will not be as good. When you wake up refreshed and energized in the morning, your best will be better than when you are tired at night. Your best will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick; it will depend on whether you are feeling wonderful and happy, or angry and upset. Your best will also change over time, but keep doing your best — no more and no less than your best. If you try too hard to do more than your best, you will spend more energy than is needed and in the end your best will not be enough. When you overdo, you deplete your body and go against yourself, and it will take you longer to accomplish your goal. If you just do your best, there is no way you can judge yourself. And if you don’t judge yourself there is no way you are going to suffer from guilt, blame, and self-punishment. If you have done your best and your inner Judge tries to judge you, you’ve got the answer: “I did my best.” There are no regrets. That is why we always do our best. It is not an easy agreement to keep, but this agreement is really going to set you free. Also, go inside and listen to your body, because your body will never lie to you. Your mind will play tricks, but the way you feel in your heart, in your guts, is the truth.” – Don Miguel Ruiz
